The Europeans (1878) by Henry James - A comedic novel contrasting the attitudes of two Bohemian visitors from Europe with those of their puritanical American relatives in Boston. The tale opens in Boston and New England in the 19th century, and involves two Europeans moving from the old to the new world. Eugenia M nster and Felix Young have moved around Europe, with Eugenia marrying Prince Adolf of Silberstadt-Schreckenstein. His family want the marriage dissolved for political reasons so Eugenia decides to travel to America to meet their distant cousins and perhaps find a wealthy American husband. American-British author Henry James (1843-1916) considered by many to be among the greatest novelists in the English language.
