Sense and Sensibility

Author(s): Jane Austen

Classic fiction

Elinor and Marianne, the two sisters who are the protagonists of this novel, experience and live love in a radically opposite way. While the former is dominated by prudence, the latter is dominated by passion. Each of them has a different way of facing life: Elinor does it with seriousness and decorum while Marianne gives free rein to her emotions.

Both sisters' lives will change with a sudden invitation to London, where they will have surprises that will teach them some lessons they will never forget. But beyond this love story, we also find a wonderful and realistic portrait of the world lived by the author.

The description of the atmosphere of the rural nobility and bourgeoisie of late 18th century England, together with the refinement, irony, delicacy and excellent painting of the soul and feelings of her characters, made Jane Austen one of the classics of English literature, which today has regained full force.
